Castello di Montecuccolo

Dating back to the 11th century, the Castello di Montecuccolo is the historical heart of Frignano and the birthplace of the legendary general Raimondo Montecuccoli. This solid medieval fortress is dominated by a tall square watchtower and surrounded by a beautifully preserved stone hamlet. Perched on a rocky spur at 870 metres, its high position once provided absolute strategic control over the surrounding valleys. The landscape offers breathtaking panoramic views over the oak and chestnut forests typical of the Appennino modenese. Today, the castle is a vibrant cultural hub hosting exhibitions and museums, perfect for those seeking to rediscover local history while immersed in unspoilt nature.
